Mountaineer Pattern Contest This year marked the 2nd year for this contest. Turnout was light, but those of us that did make the trip had a great time. In spite of a late start due to the sun and threatening weather later in the day we got 4 rounds in on Saturday. The final 2 rounds were flown in some of the calmest weather I’ve ever flown in, let alone at a contest. We finished the day with “cow-and-how” at the St. Clairsville Outback. Sunday morning the weather forecast did not look good, so a quick look at the scores and we decided to let the Sportsman fly with 4 judges and lots of feedback. Both Mike and Jim show great promise and learned quickly. You can see from the scores we did not have a clear winner until the end, and even then it was close. These guys will be duking it out at the D4 Finals! Mark Atwood and Ray Morton chose to fly the P-09 schedules on Sunday just get a feel for them and see how they looked. Mark Atwood entertaining the troops with some stories from the “olden” days. Special thanks to the Cilles family for all the their help this weekend. You were great!
