Mountaineer Pattern Championship

Arch and Wes Stafford combined with their fellow members and hosted the first Mountain Pattern Championship down in Saint Clairsville, OH at Alderman Airport September 9th and 10th.  17 pilots showed up to battle it out with a visit from District 1 pilots Ron and Dave Lockhart along with Joe Lachowski.

Contest highlights include the tremendous battle Ron Hansen put up with his new Smaragd, Steve Maxwell made it through six rounds without losing a motor, Dave Johnstone lost his canopy in flight but was able to find it, Archie Stafford is moving to southwest Texas for a job related move, and Bob Kane came up with a unique solution to the toilet paper problem making an executive declaration (mp3) for all future contests.

Capping off the weekend was a demonstration flight of a 10 1/2 foot wingspan B17.  It was a fun contest, which I believe they are planning on holding again next year. A great facility for holding a contest, you should plan to attend.
