D4 Championship Contest Results
         
  The year end D4 Championship contest was held the weekend of September 23, 24  2006 at the Comair Club located in Hebron, KY.   What a weekend it was, 10-30 mph winds the whole weekend as a major storm front decided to make an appearance Friday evening.  Saturday greeted us to intermittent showers and strong gusty crosswinds.  20 daring and hearty soles tackled mother nature head on, and I'm happy to report that there were no casualties.  Short to medium breaks were taken until the rain drops ended, and 3 rounds were gotten in on Saturday. 

Saturday evening was followed by the steak fry and night fun fly.  Huge steaks, potatoes, salads, and deserts were served up by Amy Pannell and her helpers.  What a fantastic meal!  The evening fun fly followed with Bob Pannell being the big winner.  Try flying at night in 15mph crosswinds!

Sunday, the sun greeted us with broken clouds, though the wind was still blowing, it was pretty much down the runway at 15-20mph.  Two more rounds were finished, followed by the Contest award ceremonies as well as the crowning of the District 4 Champions for the 2006 season.

Considering the foreboding forecast, 20 pilots was a pretty good turnout.  Thanks to all the D5 guys that showed up, they counted for half the entries.  It's never a dull moment when they're around, as they know how to enjoy a contest.  It wouldn't have been much of a contest without them there.
