| Just wanted to say thanks for everyone who came. There
were 7 of us. There were 3 FAI, 1 Masters, 2 Intermeidate and 1 sportsman
flyer who had never even been to a pattern contest. He showed up and flew
his Hanger 9 Pizazz and did he put on a show. He obviously paid very close
attention to maneuver descriptions. We split the judges up into 2 panels.
The 3 FAI guys judged the lower classes, and the 2 intermediate and one
masters judged FAI. We turned it also into a practice session at the same
time, critiquing and letting guys after the flight fly certain maneuvers
over and over to learn them, so I think it was a productive day for
everyone. Mark Atwood got the award for perseverance. He was having some
motor problems, probably more descriptive would be header problems. I
think Mark went through 2 or 3 headers over the course of the contest and
practicing Friday. We also had some fun after the contest, where we let
everyone fly the Advanced sequence totally unknown. None of us had really
ever flown it and it made it a lot of fun, we just rotated judges. If you
weren’t flying or on deck, you weren’t judging, but everyone else was.
Anyway, here are the results. Thanks, Arch Sportsman Intermediate Masters
